Most Promising Actor of the Month for September 2014!

Tim Mason Scott (StarCentral Magazine’s Most Promising Actor of the Month for September 2014) can’t really recall the exact point when he started his acting career. As these things happen, he really just fell in love with acting after doing a short course with NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Arts in Australia) in early 2013. He quickly went on to sign with an agency and kept on pursuing acting jobs as much as he could in between university and other work commitments.

He loves getting inside the head of characters he’s playing and experience their lives, their worlds and how everything affects them. His most recent character was Sam from the feature film Rags, who was a lot of fun to play because of his quirkiness and energy. Lulls in production and the time between roles greatly frustrate him as acting has become an obsession. Only when he is deep into an acting job does he feel like he is achieving his full potential.

Tim Scott Headshot

One of the most memorable things that stand out for Tim over the last year and a half would have to be the giant slip ‘n’ slide that they went on for Dami Im’s music video for “Super Love.” It was an absolute blast but it was also extremely cold and his character had to wear tight leather clothes, so getting changed afterwards was definitely a mission!
According to Tim, you get to meet the most amazing people in the entertainment industry. One who stands out for him is legendary Australian actor, Bryan Brown (Cocktail, Gorillas In The Mist). Tim grew up watching a lot of Bryan’s past work, and he recently had the good fortune to work with him on the TV series, Old School. He had a few great conversations with Bryan on the set and he found the extremely talented actor to be very down to earth and easy to get along with.
For the 22-year old, one can never stop perfecting one’s craft. Each and every project, for him, offers new experiences and teaches him more about himself and about becoming a better actor. He says that, while everyone is different, we all have things that make us who we are and what we are. To a certain degree the emphasis is on the outside, but it’s not what defines us. Sometimes what is on the inside really shines through the outside and he believes that our little quirks make us who we are. His advice is to be humble in whatever you do.

Tim Scott Smile Shot
The Sydney-based actor and self-taught Parkour-enthusiast loves his family to bits and he shows it every time he has the opportunity. They are all amazing, proud and very supportive.  He wants to keep building upon experience and keep on working with more great actors. A big fan of Paul Fenech (who writes, directs and stars in the TV shows Housos as well as (Fat) Pizza), he would love to one day work with Paul on a project. Tim considers Fenech’s humour the best side to his multi-dimensional talent. Tim has many plans afoot, and one of them is to start working regularly on other Australian television programs now that he’s just wrapped up filming on his latest feature film.

‘LIGHTNING FAST’ Round:

1.  Last good movie I’ve seen:

Edge of Tomorrow was absolutely brilliant, really lived up expectations.
2. What do you consider beautiful and why?

I think people pushing themselves to be the best possible versions of themselves is beautiful. Not just for them but for their loved ones as well.

3. What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could?

I haven’t worked on ‘Home and Away’ yet but I really want to.

 4. Complete this sentence: “If I had no fear, I’d….

never feel accomplished because the greatest things are on the other side of fear and hard work”.

 5. What is the one “flaw” you wouldn’t change about yourself?

I always dissect my performance afterwards and pick at what I didn’t like. I wouldn’t want to change this though because it helps me improve with every new project.
