Most people become uncomfortable and self-conscious when they find themselves in front of a camera. Not Keara Lydon, StarCentral’s Swimsuit Model of the Month for February 2017. Keara admits that “I just love the camera which I have a natural connection with. There is just something about being at the other end of the lens. I feel so at ease. From an early age I always wanted to be a model.”
The South-Sfrican born beauty is now back to her family’s homeland of Ireland after having been raised in Dubai. It is there, in that desert land of wealth and excess that Keara got her start in modeling. Despite being in the modeling world for only the last 2 years, Keara nevertheless found herself crowned as Most Beautiful Girl in Ireland on November 25 last year. As part of her win, she has been named Ambassador for GOSH Cosmetics (a Denmark-based brand of makeup popular in Europe) and will represent Ireland in the Most Beautiful Girl in The World Pageant to be held in Dubai in March this year. Keara gushes that winning the title has been “an awesome opportunity…This has begun to open many doors for me. I am so excited about the year ahead of me!”
Making sure to take care of her stunning physique comes a little easier to Keara than most. She confesses- that she lives for “the gym. Some call me an addict…” The 18-year old also reveals that she is a runner and had been chosen to represent Ireland at the World Biathle (modern biathlon) championships. Her love for keeping in shape has also seen her become a personal fitness instructor and has led to dreams of her own sport brand of clothing one day. While her figure is one aspect of her career, Keara has also taken steps to expand her knowledge of the modeling industry by becoming a makeup artist. She earned her diploma from ITEC – a globally recognised and well-respected company specializing in the Beauty and Complementary Therapy, Sport, Fitness and Hairdressing sectors.
Her dedication has clearly shown Keara to be unafraid of the less-than-glamourous side of modeling. She reveals that she loves the saying, ““what you put in is what you get out”. I am a firm believer that hard work always pays off…love what you do, be passionate about it and it shouldn’t feel like work…” The modeling world is well known for being competitive and at times, brutally cruel to one’s self-esteem. But Keara has learned, she says, to “remain grounded and true to yourself…I also have learned that not everyone is going to like you. This is okay, just don’t take it personally…” She also credits her faith for keeping her grounded and she doesn’t leave out her parents: “My parents have also taught me to be compassionate, kind and generous…” Keara firmly believes that “it is so vitally important to have that kind of support… I am really blessed to have a family like I do. My family believe in me and back me all the way…they encourage me to be the best person I can be…”
Keara Lydon’s star is undoubtedly on the rise. Her personality, looks and drive have all combined to see her success within reach. This is one Irish lass to watch out for!
