Tough twelve interview with beauty guru Asher

1. Tell us your name and something about yourself.

My name is Asher and I am a 23 year old Christian woman, I grew up in Hawaii where I was raised all my life. I enjoy photography, graphic design and creating YouTube videos which is where my being a computer geek comes into play – I am constantly on the computer or working with technology in school, work, and even my personal life. I like to meet new people everyday which is why I love YouTube so much because it allows me to communicate with my viewers and hear their point of view. I am the type of person who is always smiling no matter what I am doing or going through and I like to laugh and just be myself everywhere. I like leaving a lasting impression wherever I go and I simply enjoy goofing around, making other people happy and staying positive. My life is a constant roller coaster but I love the challenge life gives me!

2. Give us a brief description of your achievements, of what you have accomplished so far.

First of all I would like to thank God up above for everything that I have accomplished so far. I would say that one of my biggest accomplishments in life is graduating from high school because I really didn’t think I was able to pass. High school was not exactly easy for me, I had a lot of challenges to overcome but luckily I got through it. My most recent accomplishment is getting my Associate’s Degree which is something that I worked extra hard for and proud of – I am currently working towards getting my Bachelor’s degree and I am extremely excited for that. I take my college career very seriously; I’m paying my whole way through school as a full-time student and working part-time at the same time. I believe that the more things you are challenged with, the stronger you become as a person and that’s why I welcome challenges in my life. I also believe that hard work pays off in the end and that’s why I will never stop working hard!

3. Would you rather be a worried genius or a joyful simpleton?

I would rather be a worried genius because even though it is not good to worry all the time, being a genius is good enough for me because at least you know mostly everything. You’ll be smart enough to figure something out rather than being a happy gullible person that doesn’t know as much or know what to do next. At least if I was a worried genius I can figure out what my next move is (whatever situation I am in) and I can move on.

4. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?

I am more worried about doing things right. It is how to get things done right which is what I am worried about. I think I am like that because I’m a very organized person and I like to have a plan before doing something or I like to know what I am suppose to do before conquering it. So I am more worried about doing things the right way so I don’t end up somewhere or into something bad. I take precautions!

5. You’re having lunch with three people you respect and admire. They all start criticizing a close friend of yours, not knowing he/she is your friend. The criticism is distasteful and unjustified. What do you do?

Honestly speaking, if three of my good friends were talking about another person that is also one of my friends, I would question them about why they feel that way. I would say something like: “Why don’t you like them? Why are you talking about them? Do you personally know them? (Because I do)”. I would ask questions and prove to them that the person they are talking about is a good person and is my friend. I’m the type of person that will be up front with a person and be straight up with that person. All my friends know that about me and they respect that and I respect each and every one of them and don’t treat them any different from my other friends because all my friends are genuinely unique.

6. If you could offer a newborn child only one piece of advice, what would it be?

Always fight for what you believe in and for what you want in this life because life is not easy. You will get knocked over a million times but you got to learn to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on. You will grow stronger because of it. Life doesn’t stop and you have to be strong, positive, and always hope for the best. In the end of every struggle or hardship it is all worth it!

7. How far would you go to save a loved one?

I wouldn’t die for the people that I love because that would be unrealistic. However, I would sacrifice anything that I had for the people that I love because they mean that much to me. The reason being is because the people that I love the most have been there for me through thick and thin and I know that they would do the same for me so I just want to give back anything to them in return because I care that much for them.

8. What’s something you know you do differently than most people?

I think the one thing that I do differently than most people is that I am able to look at the good in someone when no one else sees it. You could see the ugliest, meanest, or dirtiest person that you have ever seen but I can still see the goodness in them. The way I see it is that everyone has a good heart; it’s just the things that happens to them that covers up that goodness – but then people don’t tend to see or overlook it right away. I tend to notice that goodness right off the bat because I accept anyone and everyone just the way they are, I don’t like to discriminate or leave out people based on the outward appearance, I look at the heart and that is what matters the most.

9. If you were a character from ‘Sex & the city,’ which one would you be?

I actually do not watch this show! LOL Funnily enough I have never seen it before.

10. What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? And that said, what’s holding you back?

One of the things that I have not done yet that I really want to do is to paddle board – it looks like so much fun! However, the one thing that is holding me back is that I am terrified of sharks. In fact, I’m so paranoid about sharks that even when I am in the shallow side of the water I still look around to see if there are sharks!

11. Right now are you holding onto something you need to let go of?

Right now I don’t think I am holding on to anything that I need to let go of. I recently just let go of something that I really needed to let go of for the longest time and I’m much happier now. It’s always tough trying to let go of something or someone you’re so used to because you’re scared that you might have made a mistake letting go of that something or someone and you might regret it in the future. However, I found that when you finally let go of that something or someone that you know is no longer a part of your life, it is actually refreshing and quite a life changer – The experience strengthens you!

12. What would you do when you have learnt that the world is going to end in 3 hours?

Honestly? I would get on my knees, bow my head, and pray to God for every life and my own. Praying is what I would be doing and then afterwards I’d call all my family and friends and warn them! LOL
