As a little girl, watching her mother put her makeup on taught Tracy Timberlake, StarCentral’s Beauty Guru of the Year for 2012, about “…embracing femininity…” and sparked an interest in all things beauty-related. That interest blossomed after graduating from college and before she knew it, “…one tube of lipstick quickly became many! I was hooked!”
The half-Filipino, half-African/American’s (“…Yes! I speak Tagalog and Kapampangan!”) career began more as a hobby. She would give advice to her friends “…about how to take care of themselves, use better products, and show them how to do a smoky eye… encouraging them to love who God created them to be from the inside out…” Tracy loves talking to other people and being a singer, also has a passion for the performing arts so her career really is the “best of both worlds” for her! “I get to combine my love for the arts and other people all in one! I love the creative side of it…then I also get to uplift other women in the process.”
While initially unsure about taking her career to the next level, Tracy admits that “…I took some time to really pray about it and see what I was supposed to do…” Proverbs 16:3 – ‘Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed,’ proved to be right impetus. Her YouTube channel, ‘Dazzle Diaries’ has garnered over 320,000 views with nearly 2,800 subscribers. It’s not all beauty and makeup tutorials though. Tracy also has fashion tips and tricks as well as monthly giveaways! This month finds the 31-year old incredibly excited as her giveaway is from Jax Couture – a fashion outfit of a designer halter-top and skirt.
To say that Tracy is passionate about her career is an understatement. “Fashion should be an extension of who you are as a person and how you feel inside…it’s a form of expression that I don’t think we appreciate enough… with fashion and style everyone can be an artist! I LOVE that!” She constantly surrounds herself with things and with people that inspire her and while she knows that her talent will take her far, there is no replacing a good work ethic and prayer – “…a good, solid work ethic is necessary to make your dreams come true; but also to remember to pray because ultimately God is in control…”
Many memorable moments have peppered Tracy’s career (meeting David Foster, the man behind Whitney Houston’s ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack, and Charice Pempengco at a singing contest is one of them as well as winning StarCentral’s competition) and personal life (her brother, Chris Timberlake plays for the Meralco Bolts, a Philippine Basketball Association team) so far, but for the Miami, Florida resident it’s all about “…living life on purpose…” She knows “…finding that purpose isn’t always easy, but when you do, you should hold on to it and never let it go!” There’s no doubt that this amazing woman who never will!
