Billie Eilish Stuns On Met Gala Red Carpet In A Marilyn Monroe–Inspired Ballgown

Even with the world still feeling the devastating effects of COVID-19, Met Gala this year is no different. Considerably referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out,” celebrities, creatives, and industry heavyweights once again flocked to the event to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

That said, one of the dresses at the Met Gala that has gone viral was worn by none other than singer Billie Eilish.

Everyone was talking about her amazing homage to Marilyn Monroe and her dress was totally breathtaking. She wore a massive peach gown by the widely acclaimed Oscar de la Renta and she completed her entire look with soft diffused smokey eyes and matching dusty rose lip colour. Here’s what she wrote on her Instagram account about the dress:

“Thank you @oscardelarenta for designing this BEAUTIFUL dress and bringing my ideas and vision to life. it was an honor to wear this dress knowing that going forward Oscar de la Renta will be completely fur-free!!!! I am beyond thrilled that @fernandogarciam1205 and @tokibunbun and the entire team heard me on this issue, and have now made a change that makes an impact for the greater good, not only for animals but also for our planet and environment too. I’m honored to have been a catalyst and to have been heard on this matter. I urge all designers to do the same”

When she was asked by red carpet host Keke Palmer about her dress, she simply said, “I’ve always wanted to do this.”

A lot of people praised Eilish for her stunning dress, however, it wasn’t just about her gown that got people talking – there was actually a catch why she wore it: She only agreed to wear the Oscar de la Renta dress on the condition that the famous fashion designer agrees to stop using animal fur. We definitely love Eilish all the more for making this move!
