Chris Rock just got smacked by Will Smith on stage at the 2022 Oscars after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. For those who aren’t aware, Jada was actually diagnosed with Alopecia (Hair Loss) in 2018. In fact, she has been quite public about her struggles with not being able to grow her hair.
Jada rolled her eyes after Rock made a joke about her hair and Will Smith casually walked up to Rock on stage and slapped him hard!
“Oh wow. Wow. Will Smith just smacked the shit out of me,” Rock managed to say right after Smith left the stage – the crowd was both stunned and laughing at the same time probably because they were not sure if this was all part of an act or not.
Furthermore, When Smith sat back down in his seat he yelled at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*cking mouth.”
“Wow, dude. It was a G.I. Jane joke,” Rock bewilderedly replied.
Smith just repeated himself and screamed back at Rock, “Keep my wife’s name out your f*cking mouth.”
“I’m going to, okay?” Rock eventually said.
Later in the evening, Smith eventually ended up winning the award for Best Leading Actor for playing Richard Williams, Venus and Serena Williams’ father, in King Richard.
Upon his acceptance speech, Smith cried and then went on to apologize. “I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees,” he quipped. “Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.” However, Smith did not specifically issue an apology to Chris Rock.
