Amadeus
At just 17 years old, Lucas Amadeus Duran, best known as Amadeus—a name he prefers for its uniqueness and meaningful significance— is already carving an extraordinary path across the worlds of dance, performance, and the arts. “Ama” means love, and “Deus” means God, a name chosen by his parents to carry positive weight and inspiration. It also pays homage to the legendary composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, reflecting the family’s deep appreciation for artistry and creativity.
Born in Australia to Brazilian and Colombian parents, he carries a rich cultural heritage that fuels his passion, creativity, and relentless drive. Growing up in a family of professional dancers, artistry runs naturally through his veins. His parents once lit up stages around the world, and now Amadeus and his sister, Luana Mia Duran, proudly carry that legacy forward.
From the moment he first stepped onto a stage as a young child, Amadeus felt at home under the lights. His early achievements quickly proved his natural talent. Alongside his sister, he won second place in the Bachata Duo category at the World Latin Championships—an impressive accomplishment for such a young performer. He also appeared as a guest dancer in several The Wiggles DVDs, showcasing his charm and stage presence to national audiences.

Amadeus’ training is as diverse as his talents. At The Whiteley College, he flourished in the performing arts program, taking on major lead roles including the Beast in Beauty and the Beast Ballet, the Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, and the Prince in Cinderella. His dedication to excellence earned him first place in a lyrical duo competition at the Eisteddfods, once again performing with his sister.
His abilities have opened doors worldwide. He was offered a position in the Sydney Dance Company’s prestigious pre-professional year and was invited for an intensive week of training. His talent also led to opportunities abroad, including acceptance into the Academy Ateneo de la Danza in Siena, Italy, and Area Dance Geneva in Switzerland—both offering him places upon completion of their programs. Additional opportunities came from Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, and Hungary, further affirming his international potential.
Despite his global prospects, Amadeus remains deeply connected to his community. He performs Latin dance at various events with The Latin Stars Dance Academy and was selected to perform lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop at Parliament House on Australia Day 2025. He was also chosen as the lead in DJ Jazzy’s production Boogie Fever.
Beyond dance, Amadeus has a love for singing, acting, drawing—especially anime—and soccer, where he plays as a left wing and striker. Recently, he expanded his horizons once again, beginning an apprenticeship in plumbing while continuing to pursue his artistic passions.
With remarkable talent, discipline, and versatility, Lucas Amadeus Duran—Amadeus—is a young star destined for a future as dynamic as the many stages he has already conquered.
