It looks like Samoan-New Zealander former professional boxer Faumuina To’aletai Mafaufau David Tua best known as “David Tua,” will be officially launching his clothing line at the Pacific International Runway show in Sydney so it’s exciting times ahead!
David Tua was a professional boxer from 1992 to 2013 and he was a highly ranked heavyweight contender for the majority of his career. Tua was famous for his powerful punching power, especially his devastating left hook; he scored a whopping sixteen wins by knockout in the first round, which included knockouts of world heavyweight champions John Ruiz and Michael Moorer within thirty seconds of the first round, as well as late stoppages of world champions Oleg Maskaev and Hasim Rahman. Tua eventually ended his career with a knockout-to-win ratio of 82.6% according to Wikipedia. In a 2003 article by The Ring magazine, Tua was ranked 48th on a list of 100 greatest punchers of all time.
Nicknamed the “Tuamanator”, his fighting style was often compared to the legendary Iron Mike Tyson. Tua fought a number of the best boxers of his era and also challenged once for the unified world heavyweight title against Lennox Lewis in 2000. He possessed one of the strongest chins of his time.
