Fashionista of the Month for May 2013!

Like many little girls, Danielle Robinson’s (StarCentral Magazine’s Fashionista of the Month for May 2013) introduction to fashion was via the infamous doll from Mattel, Barbie.  “…As a child I would play with my Barbies for hours at a time dressing them and styling them. I even made my own fashion line for them which included tissue and tape, my looks were very couture…”

From then on, Danielle, aka ‘Fashionprincess’ (“…because I am the princess of fashion…”) was hopelessly hooked.  “…I always knew my heart belonged in fashion. In high school I laid out a plan for me to make my dreams come true as much as possible…”  That plan included attending a school geared towards fashion (she has achieved an associate degree in merchandising management) where she learned the “…business side of fashion which has helped me tremendously along the way…” Only a teenager and already, she had a plan in place to achieve her dreams!  That dream received a big boost when in 2007 she started her blog, ‘Fashion Trend Seeker’ with the help of her father.  “…I never knew where it would go, but I had a strong passion to spread trends to others and help people with their style. I never dreamed that It would one day lead to a career, but after some time and hard work it has…”  Her blog now boasts a readership of over 700,000!  On top of her blog, Danielle also has her YouTube channel, ‘Where Beauty Meets The Fashion World’.  To date, it has garnered nearly 2 million views with over 1,200 subscribers.

For Chicago-based Danielle, what she enjoys about fashion is “…the freedom to style yourself anyway you choose…”  She also loves the fact that the right outfit can improve one’s attitude for the day, “…it can truly help make me feel better…”  Beyond her passion for the industry, she is continually inspired “…seeing other bloggers succeed…it’s very motivating to see just how far we have grown…” She can also count of the unwavering support of her family as another source of inspiration.  She will need that support to achieve the next stage of her dreams which include launching her own online store, fashion and jewelry line and of course, “…I want my blog to reach brand status and to become a name that everyone recognizes.”  She has the drive, talent and smarts to certainly make these plans come true – “If you’re willing to pour your heart and soul into making your dreams come true, then they will come true. It takes courage and persistent but eventually your dreams will come to pass.”

1.            Your best guilty pleasure…

                “I have the biggest sweet-tooth, cake, and ice cream are my favorite.”

2.            What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?

                “My Cetaphil face cleaner. It makes my face feel like silk, and it removes ever trace of makeup even waterproof mascara.”

3.            What is the most dramatic thing you’ve ever done to change your looks?

                “I would probably say just trying a new hairstyle. I sometimes like to mix things up with bold hair              extensions and new hair colors. I even tried ombre once.”

4.            What is in your makeup bag when you travel?

                “I always carry my Mac Eyebrow Pencil, Mac Lipstick, Bare Minerals Foundation, and a face          primer.”

5.            What is the one “flaw” you wouldn’t change about yourself?

“I would probably have to say my eyes. My eyes are very exotic looking and many would say small but I love them. When I smile my eyes get very slanted and tiny but they complement by bold smile. I was often teased when growing up about how tiny my eyes are, but I wouldn’t change them for anything in the world. They’re a part of me, and they add to my character.”
