Adding flair and edge to every outfit, Cabrini Roy is StarCentral Magazine’s Fashionista of the Month for July 2013. Making her own outfits for a year now, Cabrini has been tinkering with her sewing machine and completing DIY projects since she was 11 years old.
1. What is it you love most about fashion?
Fashion is the one thing in life that has no boundaries and that is why I love it. You can express your true personality and no one can tell you not to. It also makes you more confident because if you look good, you feel good. However, what I love the most about it is that I can use it to show off my creativity: from designing, making clothes, and pairing outfits together. It’s like two of my favorite things combined – art and clothes.
2. How would you describe your style?.
It’s girly and flirtatious, and I sport mostly pastels and florals but I change things up with the occasional rocky punk adding spikes and studs, to keep things interesting.
I try to mix and match and change my style every day , so I am a big fan of trying something new. But I always try to stay original, making my own clothes helps that because I feel like I’m one-of-a-kind, as I’m the only one in the world wearing it because I created it.
4. How long have you had your blog for?
I’ve had my blog for about 6 months now and I’ve been addicted to it ever since. Being able to show people what I wear is amazing but inspiring them is even more extraordinary.
5. Describe one of your favourite pieces.
My favourite piece of clothing would probably be my DIY 3D rose skirt. This is because I love the detail in the skirt. I adore it so much that I made it in five different colours! I’m actually hoping to start selling them very soon on my online shop (which is still in progress).
6. Who is your fashion icon?
I have many fashion icons, from celebrities to my favourite instagramers and fashion bloggers. My favorite fashion bloggers are fashioncoolture, rubilove and heyitannabanana (from Instagram). But above all my fashion icon is my super fashionable mum!
7. Can you share one fashion ‘Do’ and one fashion ‘Don’t’ you always follow?
I don’t think there’s any rules when it comes to fashion. It’s about how you make it, how you style it, and how you wear it! Those are my rules! However a rule I always do follow is that I always make sure the outfit matches colours.
8. What do you plan on doing when you finish your studies in fashion?
After I finish my studies in fashion (after university) I dream to start a business and open my own clothing stores. I have big goals for my future and I will do my very best to achieve them.
9. What do you do when you’re not creating your own wardrobe?
I spend so long on my sewing machine that it feels like I’m permanently attached to it, however when I’m free from the needle and thread I just love laughing with my friends and family.
