Fashionista Of The Month: Lynette Joselly

Lynnette Joselly, StarCentral Magazine’s Fashionista of the Month is a 27-year old Dominican who is currently based in Miami, Florida. Her ability impressively extends beyond her artistic skills as she also has a degree in Business Administration and studied Marketing. Her strong grasp on creating a trend and managing a business is what brings her to our attention. In fact, she can be an inspiration to young, business-minded professionals.

“I enjoy the art and joy of putting an outfit together based on my mood”, she says. Living the life that she loves the most, Lynnette discovered her interest in style and fashion while working for Forever21. Who would have thought that playing dress up with the mannequins would lead to this journey? No one, except that her strong determination has guided her to create a beautiful project that can inspire other people.

Embracing her true Eureka moment, Lynnette started to develop her own style and spent pay check after pay check investing in new clothes. This has further validated her fate and she decided that her fashion blog needs to be revolutionised by incorporating her graphic design skills. As more and more people complimented her styling, her blog began to grow.

Lynnette’s first blog entry was scribbled back in College. This became an influential platform for networking and advertising, while doing what her passion really dictates. Slowly, her page gained popularity and she ensures to offer updated styling tips and looks by following famous fashion celebrities such as Rihanna and Kim Kardashian. Aside from this, the growing interest for outfit inspiration has found her stalking other fashion blogs and YouTube Bloggers like Dulce Candy.

Lynnette has a very amazing family that tirelessly supports her blogging and business ventures. These people have been big contributors to her success, especially during fashion events. In the past, she was able to organise ‘Blogger’s Closet’ and ‘Summer Fashion Bash’ in Miami, Florida and both turned really lucrative.

More than becoming a business woman, her blog has opened so many doors of blessings and rare opportunities in her life. Lynnette was able to meet and exchange beauty tricks with Victoria Secret Model Candice Swanepoel. “She looks like perfection. It was a great experience and she was such a humble person, very beautiful inside and out”, she relates.

It sounds like not everything turns out well all the time. When asked about the most valuable lesson she has learned throughout the whole process, Lynnette was quick to say that in this industry, some people will steal ideas from its original owner and not give credit where credit is due. Behind all these, she manages to remain positive. She believes that one of the advantages in her career is that people look up to you for inspiration and staying happy is a better way to inspire them.

Currently, Lynnette manages a hair extension line called BellaKurls, where she offers longer curly hair in a matter of minutes. On the other hand, her long term goal includes business expansion and to just keep on learning for a great future in her field.

What is the most dramatic thing you’ve ever done to change your looks? Go from curly to straight. I’ve been told I look like a different person.
What is in your makeup bag when you travel? Eyeliner, Mascara, Lip Balm, Foundation, Blush, Lotion, Hand Sanitizer…ummm everything!
What is the one “flaw” you wouldn’t change about yourself? My hair. I have big puffy curly hair that is not easy to manage. I have learned to accept and love the frizziness.
Your best guilty pleasure. Eating Nutella sandwiches with ice cream on the side.
