The Spring/Summer runway looks were varied this season from heavy black lashes to two toned lipstick and healthy glow. These are the hottest make up looks to add to your arsenal.
1. Glossy
After years of flaky matte liquid lipstick and heavy matte foundation, the gloss is finally back. Luscious glossy lips and glossy eyelids are on runways across the world for spring/summer. Gone are the days of gloopy lip gloss instead, you can just add a thin sheen of clear lip gloss over your favourite lipstick for a youthful look. Etro brought glossy eyelids to their runway with make up artist Mark Carrasquillo being inspired by Indian beauty trends. At Joseph, make up artist Lynsey Alexander simple added balm often used on the lips to the cheeks and eyes for a youthful glowy look.
2. Graphic liner
The month practicing winged eyeliner aren’t going to waste in Spring/Summer. The precise winged eyeliner is a little more smoky to give a less put together rock and roll look. Also bold winged eyeliner has been seen in an array of fun colours like the purple pastel look for Missoni or the metallic orange flick from Oscar De La Renta Jason Wu introduced finger print liner where you drag your liner across your lid instead of using a pencil for a precise line. Models at The Blonds had holographic Perspex liner for a Blade Runner futuristic effect. These bold eye looks are worn with a clear glossy lip, bold brows and youthfully bare skin.
3. Let your skin do the talking
Pat McGrath’s recommends letting your skin do the talking as was shown at the Victoria Beckham show where models wore nothing highlighter and matte lipstick. Alexander Wang wanted the model individual beauty come through with a natural but prepped skin, as seen on Kendall Jenner. Roland Mouret concentrated on bold brows with clear glowy skin for a youthful feel.
4. Ombre Lips
Ombre lips are set to be the bring thing heading into 2018. Smashbox and Benefit have bright the duo-coloured lipstick to makeup stores but it can as easily be achieved with a darker lip line and at least one lipstick. Helmut Lang teamed Mac’s Russian Red with the Nightingale lip pencil. There is also the more wearable nude version of this, made famous in the late 90’s. Use a slightly darker lip liner to make your lips look fuller before applying a nude lipstick of gloss.
5. Glitter
Fenty Beauty made sure everything was glittery at the Fentyx Puma show with glittery lips, glittery lids and glittery cheeks. Jeremy Scott and Dries Van Noten went the embellishment route, gluing crystals underneath theirs models for a wide-eyed retro look where else the girls at Carmen Marc Valvo had sequins on their eyelids for extra bold sparkles. Phillip Plein teamed with Maybelline for a glam rock sparkly blue lid that went from lash to brows, Pat McGrath played it more subtly at Anna Sui with a simple tear drop of glitter under models like Gigi Hadid’s eyes. Ralph & Russo had the best new minimal way of wear glitter, placing it in the inner corner whilst leaving the rest of the eye naked and healthy.
