Lili Liu’s upbringing was a tapestry woven with threads of tradition and creativity, laying the foundation for a remarkable journey that would lead her to the world’s grandest concert halls.
Xiang Yang, with its ancient palaces and vibrant history spanning over three millennia, provided the perfect backdrop for Lili’s early years. Her senses were constantly awakened by the city’s diverse fashion, captivating melodies, and cinematic genres. Even before she embarked on her formal education, she had already developed an insatiable passion for storytelling.
As Lili transitioned into her teenage years, her devotion to storytelling found a new canvas – classical music. It was a performance of Chopin’s Nocturne in C minor Op.48 no.1 by Fou Ts’ong that ignited the spark. At the age of 12, Lili made a life-altering decision to dedicate herself to the piano, embarking on a relentless pursuit of her dream to grace the world’s concert stages. Her journey would take her to prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Recital Centre, and various stages across China.
In 2014, Lili laid the foundation for “Lili’s Creative Space,” a haven for music creation and the nurturing of the next generation of young performers. Over the course of nine years, she not only solidified her reputation as an exceptional musician but also emerged as a revered mentor and teacher. The culmination of this incredible journey will be celebrated with a gala concert at Monash University’s Alexander Theatre, honouring the exceptional achievements of Lili’s Creative Space’s talented students.
