Knight’s Australian-Mongolian School (KAMS) proudly announces the vibrant celebration of Tsagaan Sar (Lunar New Year) by its students, who took centre stage adorned in traditional Mongolian costumes. The event, held on 12/02/2024, showcased the school’s commitment to fostering cultural diversity and celebrating both Australian and traditional Mongolian customs.
In a three-part celebration, KAMS students engaged in heartwarming activities with their parents and teachers. The first segment involved the children expressing their gratitude and love to their parents by presenting them with specially crafted gifts. The students demonstrated their cultural appreciation by writing “Happy New Year” greetings in Traditional Mongolian Script, guided by their dedicated teachers.
Adding an element of fun and excitement, the second part of the celebration featured four types of traditional Mongolian games. Students enthusiastically participated in these games, fostering a sense of camaraderie and joy among the school community.
The highlight of the event was the captivating stage performance, where KAMS students took to the stage dressed in exquisite traditional Mongolian costumes. The vibrant and colourful attire reflected the rich cultural heritage of Mongolia, creating a visual spectacle for the audience.
“At KAMS, we take immense pride in not only celebrating the diverse Australian culture but also embracing and honouring the traditional Mongolian customs,” said Oogii Flower, CEO at KAMS. “The Tsagaan Sar celebration is a testament to our commitment to fostering cultural understanding and appreciation among our students and the wider community.”
KAMS remains dedicated to providing a holistic educational experience that goes beyond academics. By incorporating cultural celebrations into the curriculum, the school aims to instill a sense of pride and appreciation for different cultures among its students.
As KAMS continues to prioritize cultural inclusivity, the Tsagaan Sar celebration stands as a shining example of the school’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who respect and embrace diversity.
