Disney+ Drops Official Trailer for “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” Streaming July 12

Disney+ has dropped the official trailer for “Descendants: The Rise of Red,” the newest installment in the hugely popular “Descendants” series. This music-driven Disney Original movie will start streaming exclusively on Disney+ on July 12.

In this latest chapter, former Villain Kid (VK) Uma, now the principal of Auradon Prep, invites another VK, Red, the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts from Wonderland, to join the school. When the Queen of Hearts stirs up a coup against Auradon, Red and Cinderella’s daughter Chloe have to travel back in time to stop the event that led to Red’s mum becoming a villain.

“Descendants: The Rise of Red” stars Brandy, Rita Ora, Kylie Cantrall, Malia Baker, China Anne McClain, Jeremy Swift, Dara Reneé, Ruby Rose Turner, Morgan Dudley, Paolo Montalban, Melanie Paxson, Leonardo Nam, Joshua Colley, and Peder Lindell.

The film features seven new original songs, along with reprises of the “Descendants 2” hit “What’s My Name” and “So This Is Love” from the animated classic “Cinderella.” The score is composed by Torin Borrowdale, with Ashley Wallen handling the choreography.

Written by Dan Frey and Russell Sommer, and directed by Jennifer Phang, the movie is executive produced by Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh, with co-executive producers Mahita P. Simpson and Phang, and producer Wendy S. Williams. The creative team also includes Mark Hofeling (production design), Katie Ennis (editing), Julia Caston and Emilio Sosa (costume design), and Declan Quinn (director of photography).
