Acquire is an a cappella group from UC Santa Cruz consisting entirely of students and their own musical arrangements of popular songs. Their most recent hit, a cover of The Lonely Island’s “I’m on a Boat,” recently hit the 500k mark on YouTube. From Queen to Paramore, Disney to Kanye West, Acquire has made a name for themselves by making music without a single instrument but their voices on hand.
Huu aka Lunazian
Huu is a 21 year old French-born Asian who started singing and playing the guitar in the summer of 2006. His first video made its debut on 2007 and to this day, Huu continues to share all his favourite song covers and passion for performing with his Youtube subscribers and thanks them for their continued support.
Born and raised in a small Wisconsin town, Jacob Fannin and his Midwestern style are heading to Los Angeles in October of this year. Recently described as “Jason Mraz meets Billy Joel,” (Appleton Post-Crescent – Sept ’09) Fannin’s lyrics and vocal versatility appeal to those who are searching for something above and beyond run of the mill music.
For 17 year old Samantha, music has always been a huge passion of hers ever since she could speak. At 16, she decided to post videos of herself singing on Youtube and her vocal prowess has gained some buzz ever since. Her dream is to touch people through her voice and songs. She is currently unsigned, but hoping that will change very soon.
He’s actually a pharmacist who a little over a year ago decided to share his love for music with the world by uploading performances on Youtube. With a screenname of “Singindork888,” he never imagined his videos would attract a following of internet viewers. Although he’ll be keeping his day job for a long time to come, he remains inspired to continue sharing his music online and developing as a singer songwriter.
