  1. Dear kids: This is a place to appreciate the talent that the artists have put out — not one to blindly throw around jaded accusations and opinions. I propose you refrain from trolling/flaming each other. Let’s be a little civil here.

Congratulations to all the talented folks that are out there. Amazing work.

  2. Why Joseph Vincent??? Daniela has such a fresh voice! Joseph Vincent is like any other guy on youtube playing guitar and singing

  3. @Nicholas Well, you do have a good point. Especially since you can’t spell. But I trust your judgment. Obviously someone whose votes have gone up a lot has not “cheeted”. Very logical.

  4. @hatesdouchebags: so we are in agreement, then? i knew you’d realize the error of your ways sooner or later. it’s ok, it happens.

  5. @hatesdouchebags: i can boldly and courageously throw around such statements because it is TRUTH. i do not need to prove myself to a lowly creature such as yourself, as it will be impossible for you to fathom the talent i possess. you may die from sheer jealousy by being exposed to my god-given talents…and i don’t want this fate to befall anybody.

  6. @numa you make such a claim yet you leave no website or any inclination that you might have an ounce of talent. So before you make any rash statements… back up that ignorant douchebag tool of yours that you call an opinion:)

  7. As robert said, I really think Acquire got talent, all they’re songs are fun and different.

But I’m just sad if they “cheat” with virtual vote.
If as philipe said : “acquire released a sample from their recording in a news post and told everyone to vote on this site”

Then, it is ok according to my mind : in his new video, Huu link the starcentralmagazine, so, its a fair battle.

But I’m just amazed that they got 1000 vote in one night, and now, just 400 in 3 days

  8. @justin. like someone said before, this is a chance for other artist to get their music out. gabe, passion, jr, alyssa, aj, andrew, cathy, melissa polinar, david choi, sam hart, and the list goes on, they are already known on youtube.. other not as famous artists would like to be exposed too.

  9. wait… i’ve listened to some of this guys… honestly there are lots of youtube stars that are way better than them….(gabe, passion, jra, alyssa, aj rafael, andrew garcia, cathy…) how come they are not there???????????????

  10. @Robert I am not “bitter” and am not arguing because “the one who is winning doesn’t have any talent and probably cheated/had an unfair advantage” card. On the contrary, I truly do believe that Acquire doesn’t have any talent. It’s my opinion though. I have no ties to Joseph Vincent, but I am entitled to my own opinion and don’t have to be “playing a card” in order to feel how I do.That’s ridiculous. No card-I believe Joseph has 100x more talent and a ton of fans on his facebook page to get him to the win. If all of his fans voted once everyday for him, he would surpass any other person in this contest. You don’t have to keep validating your beliefs, but I do believe your comebacks don’t discount anything I have said as far as what I believe. So why don’t you just agree to disagree and call it a night.

  11. @JB – Apologies for the name typo, drives me crazy when people get mine wrong. Don’t necessarily think that invalidates my opinion, though. I dunno whether there’s a glitch or not–I saw someone on Vincent’s Facebook mention that if you delete your cookies you can vote maybe once a day and a few of them were doing that, so maybe Acquire is too. Again, never said you weren’t valid in your opinion–but I mean, again, it’s just different mediums. I can play guitar and sing. Am I as talented as Vincent? I’d assume not, I mean, I don’t have a huge Youtube following. But coordinating a dozen people singing self-arranged harmonies isn’t exactly a hack job. I’d say they both have talent, and admittedly this contest is just down to which one more people enjoyed. Joseph, for all his fans, has less views total on Youtube. Huu has more than he does, like LeClem said.
I’m pretty over this discussion–I would just avoid playing the “if my favorite isn’t winning, the one who is doesn’t have any talent and probably cheated/had an unfair advantage” card too much. Joseph will still get featured, I’m sure, and he’ll probably go a long way. No need to sully that with bitterness.

  12. @Robert Your opinion is that Acquire has talent; I beg to differ. I think Joseph’s talent is larger than anything I have seen Acquire do. No, this contest is not about “who made the biggest splash with one song”. “Artist of the Year” means they had sufficient success throughout the whole year with many different things. This award should not go to someone who made ONE song and called it a night. The talent should be continuous and should be shown in many different video clips. I’m entitled to my own opinion. Also, it is highly unlikely they had obtained over 1000 votes in one night by following the rules as @LeClem said. There could very well be a bug or glitch in the system. But if you’re going to give your opinion in a reply to my post, at least get my name right.

  13. acquire released a sample from their recording in a news post and told everyone t ovote on this site, thats how i found it

  14. In the same idea : Huu have more than 11 video with 100 000+ view ( let me love you have 400 000).

But I think there is some bug exploit, since 1 week, I vote everyday, and the margin between huu, acquire and joseph was very small.

But yesterday, when I come here, I see + 1000 vote for acquire in one night !
Even if I like this group, I think someone found a bug, and mass vote, that’s a bit unfair…

I apologize for my poor english.

  15. @JD: I guess that just represents two equally valid ways at looking at it–whether “star” is constituted by the overall recognizability of an artist (possibly through a small number of sources) or the breadth of their accomplishments that together might add up to the same amount of impacts. That’s fair, but I still think it’s wrong to make the assumption that Acquire having so many members just means all their friends voted. Again, the Acquire video has close to a million viewers and I’ve seen it mentioned everywhere from Entertainment Weekly to Attack of The Show (which is how I heard of them)–it’s preposterous to assume that the hundreds of thousands of video views are simply made up by them telling their friends about it.
I agree that Acquire is simply an a cappella group from a college that picked a good song to go viral on the internet–not really your typical “make it big” opportunity. But that’s just because they’re different types of artists–they just put up an Amazon.com MP3 and based on how that sells they may end up selling as much as Joseph, just through a different stream.
Personally if it were up to me who I would buy a whole CD of on a basic pop music market rack, I’d vote for Huu. But I picked Acquire because I think if this contest is meant to represent who made the biggest splash on Youtube (no pun intended), “I’m On A Boat” was a much larger phenomenon than anything Joseph did, even if he has a greater quantity of material.

  16. @Robert: I have to disagree on one account. Joseph has tons of uploads (originals and covers), and this should be based upon not only the song you click on here, but also ones you see on the group/artist’s YouTube page. If it’s “artist of the year” that should not just be based on the song that is illustrated here at the time and has nothing to do with the amount of views for that one song. It has to do with the total of all of his videos and the massive amount of fans/subscribers he has gained. Therefore, I conclude that it is truly just a matter of having more members and people who know them. If ALL of Joseph’s fans voted once a day, he would be very high in the lead right now.

All in all, the end result doesn’t really matter. I know Joseph will have no problem becoming a star. Acquire, on the other hand, not so much. This contest is embarrassing.

  17. @JB: “This contest is nuts. If it’s based on talent, Joseph has it all the way. The only reason why Acquire is winning is because they have more people in their group who vote everyday and more friends. This result needs to be based on talent, not popularity.”

I could see the logic there, in a vacuum, but it’s pretty flawed in application. Yes there are more members of Acquire, but that hardly accounts for high-numbered polling. Also, the obvious: “The Wave” (Joseph’s starred video) only has 18,940 views. The highest he has is 230,671. Acquire’s video has 918,414 views.
I’m going to say that it makes sense they’d have more people voting for them, and I wouldn’t say “talent” and “popularity” are mutually exclusive.

  18. This contest is nuts. If it’s based on talent, Joseph has it all the way. The only reason why Acquire is winning is because they have more people in their group who vote everyday and more friends. This result needs to be based on talent, not popularity.

  19. Everyone has there own opponion on who should win this contest and if I offended acquire with what I had wrote I am really and truly sorry. I didn’t mean it in a mean or offencive way.

And to donna I do not really care what you think of my grammar skills beacuase that is not your problem sweetheart. So why don’t you go and worry about someone else also I think that my grammar is great for my age.

  20. i dunno bout you guys but i really enjoyed keshen’s vid out of all the ones here. must have taken you ageeessss to compose mate!

  21. @Obsessed wif jv – there is a difference between making mistakes and just utter stupidity. Judging by your consistently dismal grammar, punctuation and spelling skills, I’d say you fall in the latter category.

Like the commenter “said” above, it also really annoys me when people spout stupid shit like “no offence but…”, then follow it up with an insulting remark. Why even bother saying “no offence” when you mean to insult or offend in the end anyway? It’s not polite, it’s just stupid. You’re just like all them other idiots who say (and this REALLY bugs me), “no homo but…” – as if this actually negates any possibility he/she is a homosexual. Stupid, just stupid.

Go “shuv” your head in a remedial English class somewhere, sweetheart.

  22. To whoever wrote this quote
“my hearts in the right place but I’m an idiot”
can’t you see joseph has talent
And go shuv “your my hearts in the right place but I’m an idiot” up ur ass

Oh and who cares if I spell acquire wrong you know people make mistakes

  23. @obssessed wif jv
    “AQUIRE SUCKS NO OFFENCE”

That’s like saying “my heart’s in the right place, but I’m an idiot.” Also, learn to spell “Acquire.”
