Female Artist of the Year for 2012!

The quote by Paul Valery: “The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up,” definitely resonated with StarCentral Magazine’s Female Artist of the Year, Kristina Hu – aka TheUnsungHeroine. For her, “…it is not sufficient to only have dreams – one must take action and get their head out of the clouds to make these dreams a reality.”  The extremely talented pianist (with the uncanny ability of being able to play music by ear), knows that without the hard work and dedication that she has put into her music, her successes would not be realities – “…there is no magic behind my work – without the unconditional guidance and support of inspirational teachers, family members, and friends from over the years, I would be nowhere near where I am now.”

And what successes!  Her innovative style of mixing classical piano with mainstream hits, whether it be pop, dance or dubstep, has seen her YouTube channel rack up to over 5,800,000 hits with just over 35,000 subscribers.  Even the artists she covers appreciate her skill.  Her recent rendition of ‘Radioactive’ by Imagine Dragons was even featured on the group’s Facebook page!  The 17-year old now also has 8 tracks as part of her ‘Piano Covers’ series available on iTunes and Amazon.  All this while studying as a freshman at Harvard University!

With such a hectic pace to her life (Kristina is also involved in “…various classes and extracurricular student groups on campus…”), this creatively gifted young artist tries to “…find beauty in the little things…beauty can be found in everything if we only took the time to look for and appreciate it.”  She also goes for long runs along the banks of the Charles River, the river that flows near Harvard – “…the river is always reflective and beautiful, and it’s during these runs when I like to contemplate and unwind after a long day…”

Dedication. Talent. Passion.  3 elements crucial to any success and it is 3 elements abundantly evident in Kristina Hu.  Wherever it takes her, her love for music and performing, her creativity and unique ability, will ensure TheUnsungHeroine a place as an unforgettable musician.
