Female YouTube Artist of the Month for October 2013!

Like a lot of great singers, our Female YouTube Artist of the Month, Kaylee, had her humble beginnings singing at church.

“I first performed when I was 8 years old in a church Christmas musical in Flower Mound, Texas.  The director asked me to sing a solo (I think my parents were nervous) and when I stepped up to the mic something just happened inside me.  I felt something I knew I couldn’t let go of.”

With her passion for singing ignited, she aims to connect with her audience with each performance – the thing she enjoys the most about singing live.

“I love connecting with the audience.  It’s so great to see the audience sing along and have fun with me.  I also love working and performing with my band.  It’s awesome to see how we all come together to bring life to a song.”

Affecting and influencing people is the core of what motivates her to keep performing. Receiving notes and comments through social media, and letters left outside her dorm room have become the reaffirmation that she needed in order to know that she is doing what she was meant to do. Every performance has been a learning curve for her – something that she never fails to appreciate.

“I have to be myself, and stand for what I believe.  I‘ve learned not to be afraid to share my thoughts, especially when writing with other writers.  I get better each time I work with someone new.”

With a lot of performances under her belt, the most memorable one has been when she held a video release party for her music video “Daddy’s Got a .45” at The Palace Theater in Grapevine, Texas. It was especially unforgettable due to the attendance of friends, family and a sprinkling of supporters. She recalls, “I was so humbled that all those people came out to see my performance and music video. “

Her family had always been supportive of her career something she doesn’t take for granted.  In the future, she plans to continue writing performing and recording music with the intent of reaching as many people as possible.

‘LIGHTNING FAST’ Round:
1. What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could?

See shooting stars, visit all 50 states, cry during a movie, ride a train, and mostly…step “Into the Circle” and sing at the Grand Ole Opry!

2. Favourite place in the world and why?

Home in Flower Mound, Texas.  It’s where my heart is and there’s no place like it.

3. The 5 things you can’t live without?

Jesus, my iPod, a good book, my guitar, and my family.

4. Complete this sentence: “I’m a sucker for…” and tell us why.  A friend in need.  I’ll do everything possible to stop what I’m doing to answer a text or call from a friend who needs me.

5. Your best way to combat nerves…Prayer and Laughter.  Before every performance my mom is there to pray for God’s peace on me and His light to shine through me as I perform.  My brother and sisters sharing inside jokes or something silly to keep me smiling and laughing.
