Jessica Jackson may have not done a lot of live performances but the magic in her voice is more than enough for her YouTube supporters to rally behind her talent. StarCentral Magazine is on her side too as she becomes our Female YouTube Artist of the Month for the month of December.
Like other social media sites, YouTube can be the best source of feedback. It can be cruel, sometimes but Jessica has the sweetest and most thoughtful supporters who always take the time to appreciate her talent through her posts. She loves interacting with them and her music videos are the ultimate platform that enables her true personality to shine.
Her talent became evident at an early age. In her 2nd grade, Jessica realised how she enjoyed doing musical performance. She was given a chance to sing “We Shall Overcome” during her class recital of the Martin Luther King Speech. The performance was aired on their school district’s TV channel and praises for her performance followed right after.
Jessica’s mother is a big influence to her dream. She always inspires her to do things that make her happy and encourages her to follow her heart as long as it does not harm other people. This is a big factor that boosts her confidence in performing. Jessica pulls strength from the fact that her family supports and loves her. She looks at it as a ladder that bolsters her music, which is a clear expression of herself. The sweet comments from her supporters on YouTube and other social media sites added to this warm blanket of love has kept her going.
With talent like hers, it is hard to be left unnoticed. School talent shows were her first limelight. She once performed Beyoncé’s “Broken-hearted Girl” with one of her best friends, A’zha and surprised her own family with a brilliant singing performance. The whistling and screaming audience was a confirmation of a talent that deserves attention. She was recently invited to play for Tots Mall Tour and she’s grateful for it as she dreams to share her gifts to other people.
When you thrive on the internet, meeting other people online could be highly interesting. This is the case for Jessica. She met Angel Moreno through an app called Viddy and Youniq Sali on Younow website. “Angel is one of the most real people I’ve ever known in my life and she does things she wants without caring about what others will say.” This positively impacted her. Jessica decided to pour more character in her videos and she realised that more people actually embraced her talent. To add joy to her journey, Youniq gifted her with a genuine friendship that transcends distance.
Currently, Jessica is finishing up school to earn certification in Medical office Assisting. In the future, she plans to do YouTube full-time and to focus on creating original music that she can offer to the public. While she works to achieve her dreams, Jessica leaves us with a truly impeccable advice, “Be confident in yourself. Don’t change for anyone and rock whatever makes you unique.”
‘LIGHTNING FAST’ Round:
1. What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could? I’ve always dreamed of going on tour and traveling the world.
2. Favourite place in the world and why? My room because it’s my comfort space.
3. The 5 things you can’t live without? My family, music, food, water and laughing.
4. Complete this sentence: “I’m a sucker for…” and tell us why. I’m a sucker for SOUR PATCH KIDS, I am so obsessed with them and I am not ashamed to admit it. Haha.
5. Your best way to combat nerves. Don’t think about it. Let everything go and just focus on the moment.
