Marvel Studios recently released the highly anticipated teaser trailer and poster for the upcoming feature film Thunderbolts. Directed by indie veteran Jake Schreier and produced by Kevin Feige, the film promises an irreverent team-up featuring some of the most unpredictable and unlikely heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Leading the charge is the return of Florence Pugh as the deeply complex and sarcastic assassin Yelena Belova. She’s joined by an ensemble cast of MCU favourites, including Sebastian Stan reprising his role as the brooding Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as the rugged Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as the controversial John Walker, Olga Kurylenko as the mysterious Taskmaster, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, and the ever-intriguing Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
In Thunderbolts, these mismatched misfits are thrown together in what’s shaping up to be one of the most unorthodox and unpredictable team-ups in MCU history. The characters, often overshadowed by their more popular counterparts, are now stepping into the spotlight with a dark, comedic edge that fans of the franchise are sure to embrace.
Schreier’s indie roots and Marvel’s big-budget production make for an exciting combination, adding a fresh perspective to the MCU. In addition to Feige, the film’s executive producers include Louis D’Esposito, Brian Chapek, Jason Tamez, and Scarlett Johansson.
Thunderbolts is set to hit Australian cinemas on 1 May 2025, and if the teaser is any indication, it’s going to deliver a wild and unforgettable ride.
