French filmmaker, deep-sea diver, and dancer, Julie Gautier decided to hold her breath for six whole minutes while dancing in the world’s deepest pool all for the sake of art – and it was glorious to watch.

‘The Deep Joy’ pool is the world’s deepest pool – it’s 131 ft in depth so it’s quite daunting. Julie decided to shoot in this pool because “I wanted to share my biggest pain in this life with this film. For this is not too crude, I covered it with grace. To make it not too heavy, I plunged it into the water.” The short film was both directed and performed by Julie Gautier in Padua, Italy.
