Rami Malek’s performance as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody was so good that he just won the Oscar award for Best Actor.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Malek bested some really tough competition to nab one of the most coveted awards in Hollywood as he went up against Willem Dafoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Christian Bale (Vice), Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), and Viggo Mortensen (Green Book).
Malek’s performance as Freddie Mercury was so powerful that he has previously won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama, the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG) for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, and the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Winning the Best Actor Award at the Oscars was certainly cherry on top of all his other awards.
Congratulations Rami, you certainly deserved to win the award. More power to you!
