A viral video from Japan wants to show the world just how easy it is for germs and viruses to spread in restaurants when even just one person is infected.
The experiment was conducted by the public broadcasting organization NHK in conjunction with health experts and it recreates the atmosphere at a buffet restaurant. It shows 10 people coming into the restaurant, with one posing as an “infected” person. A fluorescent substance that’s only visible under black light is rubbed onto that ‘infected’ person’s hands, which represents germs from either a cough or a sneeze. Each person in the experiment then goes about and eats at the buffet as they normally would – the result afterward was shockingly scary.
