Rising Star Spotlight: Meet The Stunning Gracey Alexandria

Gracey Alexandria got into the modelling industry by posting pictures of herself on Instagram when she was younger. Eventually, brands took notice of her Instagram posts and reached out to her. One thing led to another, and she found an agent to manage her and made modelling her job.

We recently caught up with Gracey to discuss her journey in the modelling industry, and here’s what went down:

What do you like most about being a model?

I love connecting with other creatives and being involved in all of the behind the scenes work that goes into a shoot.

Downside to being a model?

I’ve struggled a lot with my relationship with food, meaning I count every one of my calories and often over-exercise to burn them off. I’m a shorter model, so I feel like I have to be my very best in all aspects of my appearance, so my weight is a constant struggle, but I’m slowly learning not to be so self-critical.

What has been the most memorable experience of being in the modelling industry so far?

I modelled for Redken in Australian Fashion Week, which was an amazing experience! Fashion Week itself is so much fun and has a great atmosphere.

Who have been the most interesting people you’ve met so far?

Other models that I’ve worked with on set, all have a different journey, and it’s cool to talk about the ups and downs of modelling with people who truly understand.

What has been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned while in the modelling industry. This can be about the industry or about yourself.

That you deserve to be where you are and you’ve been hired for a reason! Don’t second-guess yourself.

Is your family supportive of you being a model?

They’re neutral about it. I think if I’m happy, they’re happy.

If you could go back in a time machine to the time when you were just getting started, what would you do differently?

I would’ve said no to many photographers I had worked with. When I first started, I was a bit of a yes-man and got myself into situations where I felt uncomfortable. It’s important to be picky with who you work with.

What is the best advice you have ever been given?

Everything happens for a reason. What’s meant for me will find its way to me. I truly believe this.

What are your future plans? Inside your career or out of it.

Career-wise I have huge dreams, both in modeling and acting. In the future, I’d love to work internationally with bikini brands and clothing brands too! Outside of work, I’d really like to focus on my mental health. I love meditation and yoga, so I’d like to tune into that side of myself a little bit more and showcase that online as well.
