Jenny AluningStarCentral Magazine’s Sexiest Woman of the Month for August 2014 is Dawn Chang. She started out by auditioning in StarNow and is in modeling because she likes the ability to portray different characters she never thought she could be. Currently, her career as a model is an ongoing adventure, complete with difficulties inherent in the job. For example, modeling can’t really pay the bills unless you make it big time.
In any case, the 25-year old finds that she loves the way she is recognized by family and friends on TV and through commercial posters. She has sometimes met people she didn’t know but who knew her through her work. This makes her feel like a star, a plus in her chosen profession. She’s met a lot of interesting people, many of them star quality, but she has taken everything in her stride. Dawn tells us of one gentleman who really stood out among the acquaintances she’s made, because he was born with one purple and one green eye.
Dawn has modeled or been in the modeling industry for 7 years and she has learnt not to trust every make-up artist. Some of them are really good, but some of them don’t know “what the heck they’re doing,” she adds. They sometimes have been part of her dilemma when doing TV commercials and photo shoots. In other words, make-up artists have figured in some of her bad experiences.
For our top model, being grounded means believing that physical beauty is not the be all and end all of her profession. Like most people, she can take it or leave it. It is a paradox for one who has made significant inroads into the industry. She admits, though, that having talent and living a good lifestyle are important to being a model. Family is important to her, too: she is Filipina and while most of her loved one live in the Philippines, they always send through messages of support.
The half-Malaysian/half-Filipino multi-talented beauty plans on keeping at her dancing and modeling, hoping that she makes it big someday. And, of course, successfully run her self-owned cake business, DC Delights, from home.
