Dancer of the Month for June 2013!

Dance has always been described as a beautiful form of communication that doesn’t need words.  Megan Annabella Field was so successful at this form of expression that she has been named as StarCentral Magazine’s Dancer of the Month for June 2013!  Music and dance is an integral part of the 22-year old Australian’s life from her work as a dance instructor at 4 schools all over Sydney, to the fledgling music production and entertainment company, PROEMIUM, that she has begun with her partner, Michael.  There really is no telling where this talented young woman can go!

1.            What do you enjoy most about performing?

I enjoy entertaining people. There is nothing more inspiring and motivating than when a person is moved by your performance.

When throwing my entire body and emotion into such a state of vulnerability, knowing that at least one person in the audience felt the passion and motive behind my actions, makes me believe that it is a job well done.

2.            When did you first perform and where?

I first performed when I was 4 years old in my local town hall. This was when my mother signed me up for Jazz. I have not stopped since that first year until this day building my repertoire of dance styles and techniques.

3.            Do you have a specific inspiration to keep performing? (a person, an event etc)

Some people may say the big artists in the entertainment industry are their inspiration such as Beyonce, Michael Jackson or Justin Timberlake. All these artists influence me as a performer and I definitely aspire to be like them and their backup dancers, but making an impression on someone through dance really inspires me for my next performance. I believe that everyone can make a change in the world and that my way is making someone feel emotion through a performance, whether that feeling be happy or sad they are being taken away from their daily problems for that 3 mins of their life to experience another journey.

4.            What was your most memorable performance?

My most memorable performance would be performing with Kelly Rowland at Mardi Gras after party. I don’t think I have ever heard a crowd be louder than the music. What I felt on stage was purely ecstatic.

5.            What are your future plans for your career?  (Inside the performing industry or out of it).

Future plans for my career at this stage are to step out of my comfort zone and out of the norm of my everyday training and start learning new styles of dance. There are plans in place to head over to L.A in the near future to train and broaden my knowledge of dance.

Meanwhile, my partner and I have just opened a new business in Entertainment and Music Production “PROEMIUM.” We are based in Sydney and are hoping to work within the industry producing high quality entertainment and music production for corporate, festival related to private clients.

6.            Is your family supportive of your career?

I owe it to my family for the amount of support I have had my entire life to follow my dreams. My parents have always been so supportive of what I do, from taking me to class to sewing costumes to making props. They have never doubted my career choice, helping me move to Sydney at 18 straight after high school to pursue further training allowing me to become and active member in the Sydney Dance Industry. I am very grateful that they have been so supportive and I hope that I am making them proud.
