Female Model of the Month for May 2014!

Mahatma Gandhi quoted, “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be.” How you perceive yourself and your views towards life can impact how successful you will be in every path you take. As they say, it is all about confidence. And that is exactly, Farzana Nisha Khan, StarCentral Magazine’s Female Model of the Month for May 2014, is all about.

The 20-year old model has only started a career in the fashion industry, and is incessant in her will to succeed. She believes that confidence can take you anywhere you want to be. She admits to being shy, and feeling awkward in photo shoots in the beginning but after a few more projects, she has learned to really enjoy what she is doing.

Farzana shares, “the thing I like most about modeling is being able to find myself doing things that I didn’t know I was capable of.” Sometimes, we are unaware of our capacity, until we are challenged to do something we thought we cannot do. Fortunately, this young independent gal did not just give up in the face of adversity, but pushed her way through every challenge and pursued her passion.

It is no secret that the fashion world can be ruthless, and your competition can be really tough. However, this little lady does not mind that at all. Taking the baby steps towards her goal of becoming a sought-after model does not worry her. As they say, it is not about where you are headed, but it is about the journey, which according to Farzana, has been nothing but spectacular so far.

Fizz (her stage name), keeps herself motivated and grounded through a loving and understanding support system of friends and colleagues, who never fail to provide their honest opinion or advice whenever she needs it (or even when she thinks she doesn’t).

This cool and strong-willed lady, who has four brothers, and three sisters, has not revealed her plans of working as a model fulltime with her family yet. She wants to reserve the announcement when she gets a big break in her career, which is definitely not far in her future.

The whole experience has been truly empowering to the Aussie girl, who is also half Fiji Indian, which has taught her so many things about how to excel in her chosen field, and in life. She considers every photoshoot or project memorable because it has given her an opportunity to behold how every perfect photo is made. To her, watching how it all comes together (and being part of it) which includes the lighting, the timing, and everything that happens behind the camera, is like witnessing how Picasso makes a masterpiece: educational and astounding.

Moreover, one important lesson that other models can benefit from is to not to do anything you will regret in the end. “Never do something you’re slightly uncomfortable with, and always leave room for open discussions with whatever team you’re working with”, says Farzana. The blossoming model believes that the right opportunity will come to everyone, and once it does, seize it.  However, patience is required until then.

Presently, she is juggling being a manager, modeling, being part of an Oz Tag team, pole dancing, and completing her Diploma in Hospitality. She hopes to travel more, enrol in a university, make it in whichever path she takes, and have her own family in the future.

2. What do you consider beautiful and why? I consider personality beautiful, as it is probably the only thing you have 100% control over and what people respect you for the most

3. What haven’t I done yet that I wish I could? Go to uni. I’ve always grew wanting to go to uni and have the experience of that a little bit more, but I could never find a subject that interested me enough to study it for 3+ years.

5. What’s the one flaw you wouldn’t change about yourself?  The one flaw I wouldn’t change about myself would have to be my height, I am pretty short for my age but I love it. Plus, I get to wear the tallest heels I like without a fuss.
