Instagram recently announced that it is removing the total number of likes from photos and video views causing outrage with a number of Instagram influencers.
Mia Garlick, the director of policy for Facebook Australia and New Zealand said that the change is supposed to be for the benefit of users’ wellbeing, and to create a safe space “where people feel comfortable expressing themselves.” She further said that “we hope this test will remove the pressure of how many likes a post will receive, so you can focus on sharing the things you love.”
