The Real Meaning Of Easter, And Why It’s A Big Deal To Christians

Easter or “Resurrection Sunday” is a holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, which has been described in the Bible’s New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary. It is the culmination of the Passion of Jesus.

Christians refer to the week before Easter as “Holy Week” – it contains the days of the Easter, including Thursday which commemorates the Last Supper and Good Friday, which commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus.
