Introducing One Of StarCentral’s Swimsuit Models Of The Month: The Beautiful Selina Lindström

When Selina Lindström was 17-years old she was approached by a photographer on the street while she was out and about. She eventually decided to collaborate with this photographer and that collaboration kick-started her modeling career because she started modeling for other photographers and various brands soon after that. Selina loves traveling so she can discover beautiful places and she also enjoys meeting new people as she’s a very social person.

StarCentral Magazine recently caught up with Selina Lindström to discuss her journey in the modeling industry and here’s what went down:

What do you like most about being a model?

I love the traveling side and meeting new people because I’m a very social person.

The downside to being a model?

The rejection. It can be hard to be given a “no” by an agency or casting director. For me, it can feel like I’m not good enough but then again rejection is a part of the industry. I think it’s important to learn to deal with it and to remember that it’s not personal and that a “no” will eventually turn into a “yes.”

What has been the most memorable experience of being in the modeling industry so far?

So far my journey has been challenging. For some time I decided to leave my modeling dream aside and just settle for a 9-5 job. But it made me very unhappy and so I realized that was not the life for me. A challenging journey is a good journey because it teaches us to never give up and to fight for what we really want.

Who have been the most interesting people you’ve met so far?

Other girls that also aspire to be models, it’s always interesting hearing about their journey. They all have their own stories to tell.

What has been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned while in the modeling industry. This can be about the industry or about yourself.

That you need to believe in yourself first before anyone else will. Enthusiasm is infectious and if you’re self-confident, it will show from the way you talk, move, and behave. Because if you don’t believe in yourself, who else will? It all starts with you!

Is your family supportive of you being a model?

Yes, my family is very supportive, they believe I can do anything I set my mind to, and for that, I’m very thankful. Having people and especially the ones you love to support you is very helpful.

If you could go back in a time machine to the time when you were just getting started, what would you do differently?

I would work harder from the start and not taking it so slowly, thinking “I’m still young I have plenty of time to make my modeling dreams come true.” Even if it’s never too late to be a model I think it may be easier to start modeling at a younger age, especially if you’re going to do fashion modeling. Some modeling agencies actually have an age limit.

9. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

“Failure will never overtake you if your determination to succeed is strong enough.” If you have determination and persistence, you will make it through to the brighter days because you can outlast the days that make you want to give up. All you have to do is keep going, no matter what. It’s good to be reminded of this when I’m having a hard time.

10. What are your future plans? Inside your career or out of it.

My future plans are to keep doing shoots and collaborations, to go further with my career, and also to travel as much as I can.

The ‘LIGHTNING FAST’ Round:

1. Last good movie I’ve seen: Terminator Salvation
2. What do you consider beautiful and why? For me being beautiful is being kind. It doesn’t matter how you look on the outside, having a beautiful inside is what really makes you beautiful. Beauty also comes in all different shapes, all people are unique in their own way.
3. What haven’t you done yet that you wish you could? Backpack in South America. That’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. It would be so cool to see all the beautiful places like the Machu Picchu in Peru and the Galápagos Islands in Ecuador.
4. Complete this sentence: “If I had no fear, I’d…” go skydiving! That would be amazing but unfortunately I’m way too afraid of heights.
5. What is the one “flaw” you wouldn’t change about yourself? I’m over sensitive and very close to my feelings which can be both good and bad. For example, I can get sad or irritated easily but at the same time, my sensitivity makes me a very sympathetic and kind person. It’s just who I am and I wouldn’t be the same without it.
