This Woman Just Became The First Ever Model To Wear A Burkini In An Issue Of Sports Illustrated

Now, it looks like Sports Illustrated is keeping up with the times by not only featuring women of different shapes and sizes but also featuring women with different religions as a number of Muslim women choose to wear the burkini as an alternative to the typical swimsuit or bikini.

Twenty-one-year-old Somali-American supermodel Halima Aden has just made history by becoming the first ever woman to wear a burkini in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

In an interview with Good Morning America, she opened up about appearing in the magazine: “Sports Illustrated is proving that a girl that’s wearing a bikini could be right alongside a girl that’s wearing a burkini. And as women, we can come alongside each other and be each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”
